Mountain View Champions Park

Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District received funds to improve this existing park space with a voter-approved bond measure in 2008. This is the largest park improvement project that came out of that bond. Serving primarily as a community sports complex, the park includes a custom synthetic turf field, referred to as the “Champions Too Field”, which serves athletes and kids experiencing physical or developmental disabilities.

Planned programs for this field include baseball/softball, adaptive soccer, and many other activities. In addition, a second, larger double synthetic turf field is provided, to accommodate high school soccer, lacrosse, and baseball/softball practice. The park will also provide a new baseball field for Aloha high school, four new tennis courts, a new inclusive play area, walking pathways, and community gardens.

The park includes accessible restroom and concessions buildings, plaza spaces for events, improved passive use areas with trails and inclusive interpretive elements, enhanced stormwater quality areas, two new picnic shelters, and a new entrance and parking area off SW 170th Avenue. THPRD hosted a grand opening ceremony October 14, 2017.

DEA led the programming and design process to develop the concept alternatives and facilitated the public involvement process to incorporate public input. DEA additionally led the design development, construction document, permitting, bidding and construction administration process for the project. DEA provided landscape architecture, civil and structural engineering, land use planning, traffic planning and analysis, environmental planning and permitting, architectural, and survey services.
