SW 124th Avenue Improvements

Washington County, OR

The SW 124th Avenue Project provided a new arterial road, opening up access to future industrial employment lands in Washington County. Specifically, the project extended SW 124th Avenue as an interim two-lane arterial to the south from Tualatin-Sherwood Road to Tonquin Road, and east to connect with Grahams Ferry Road. The extension of SW 124th Avenue is a critical transportation link to serve future industrial lands being planned by the cities of Tualatin and Sherwood within unincorporated county land between the two cities.

In support of Washington County, the DEA led team provided planning, environmental, and engineering expertise to develop and screen alternatives for the connection, coordinate with stakeholders, develop environmental analysis, and provide the documentation needed to secure planning approvals. The project was developed in the context of multiple planning efforts in the immediate area, with sponsors of those plans coming from a range of local agencies including a primary section for the Willamette Water Supply Program.

DEA’s prior experience in cost-sensitive engineering, land use planning, responsible environmental permitting, and relationships with local agencies and stakeholders in the region helped meet Washington County’s needs for this project.
