Korean Women’s Association Senior City TOD

Federal Way, WA

DEA provided civil engineering design services for this multi-family senior housing complex. Civil work included temporary erosion control, grading, and utility design for this complex that includes six low-income senior housing units located in the Salishan Master Planned Development. The project was a partnership with the Korean Women’s Association, U.S. Housing and Urban Development, Washington State Housing Trust Fund, City of Tacoma Economic Development, Pierce County Community Services 2060, Washington Mutual Bank (now Chase), Capital Impact, Common Ground, Environmental Works, Marpac Construction, and Low Income Housing Institute.

The site is designed to be Green Communities and Evergreen Communities certified. DEA developed a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and grading, and utility and stormwater management designs. The stormwater design integrates biofiltration swales to convey stormwater. This was the first HUD Section 202 project for the City of Federal Way, the first TOD project for Sound Transit, and the fourth TOD in the nation.
