Gordon Faber Ball Field Development
Hillsboro, OR
DEA planned and designed three additional softball fields to meet increasing public demand on the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex, a regional multi-sport complex owned and operated by the City of Hillsboro Parks & Recreation department. The complex covers more than 90 acres and incorporates a 7,000-seat stadium, softball fields, trails, play areas, a dog park, picnic shelters, and concession stands. This popular facility is used by residents for recreation league play and tournaments, as well as local youth league tournaments and other spectator sporting events and special activities.
DEA designed two state-of-the-art, natural grass regulation adult softball fields and one smaller youth baseball field. The fields are equipped with a Musco lighting system that is 50 percent more efficient than standard lighting systems. The Musco lighting system can be monitored from a remote location, reducing operator maintenance and allowing rapid response to any system failures. DEA’s design balanced the excavation cut-and-fill by creating raised mounds beyond the outfields that provide grassy open seating with good views for fans.
