Construction Updates
Current Activities (Feb. 11, 2010)
- Installation of utility conduits and vaults (power, phone, cable) adjacent to the Milltown Shopping Center (Walgreen/True Value Hardware) along the east side of Saltzman Road and along north side of Cornell Road, including conduit crossings across the intersection. The southerly access to the shopping center off of Saltzman, just north of Cornell Road, is now permanently closed.
- Installation of new storm pipe and structures along west side of Saltzman Road, between Lovejoy Street and Coleman Drive.
- Begin footing excavation, forming and rebar installation work for Retaining Wall No. 5 (in front of St Pius X sports field).
- Continue with the relocation of Verizon facilities along the west side of Saltzman, between Filbert Street and Lovejoy Street (work being performed by Verizon’s contactor).
- Relocation of overhead utility lines and transfer of services along east side of Saltzman Road, north of St. Pius X to Coleman Street. Work for each utility will be performed by that utility’s crews or their contractor.
NOTE: During the installation of conduits through the Saltzman/Cornell intersection, the traffic signal at this location will be shut down to accommodate construction activities. The intersection will have flaggers to direct traffic, but there will be delays up to 20 minutes. Alternative routes through this area are suggested and encouraged.
