Big Eddy – Knight 500kV Transmission Line Project for Bonneville Power Administration

Goldendale, WA

Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) is planning to build a new 500kV transmission line from Big Eddy Substation, near The Dalles, Oregon, to the new Knight Substation near Goldendale, Washington. The line crosses the Columbia River. DEA provided the surveying and mapping services required for BPA and its Owner’s Engineer to design, acquire rights, and complete permits to construct the 28-mile-long line and the substation. The tasks included: completing the Location Line (L-Line) survey along with all associated surveys, such as control, structure sites, access roads, and crossings; making an appropriate level of cadastral and property corner ties; completing Land Acquisition Requests (LARs) and Access Road Acquisition Requests (ARARs); and completing plan maps and profile maps, as required. DEA also provided design and monitoring surveys during construction and support for condemnation services.
