19th & 20th Two-Way Conversion

Denver, CO

Client: City and County of Denver

DEA is currently delivering roadway design and traffic engineering services to convert 19th and 20th Avenues from one-way to two-way operations while also improving the multimodal pedestrian and bicycle facilities throughout the project area. Located in the fast-developing Uptown Neighborhood in Denver, this project will incorporate protected bike facilities to provide a safe bike zone for the many users of 19th Avenue. The project began with an alternatives analysis. The DEA team evaluated options for the protected bike facility configuration and extents. The team selected an alternative that optimized cost, safety, and functional needs for all modes in the project area. The project also includes a streamlined and targeted public outreach program which is intended to build support for the project and garner input for construction communication requirements.
