South Ferry Street Terminal

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is constructing an improved South Ferry Terminal for two New York City subway lines, which will be located underneath Peter Minuit Plaza in Lower Manhattan. The existing terminal and loop tracks were built underneath Battery Park at the turn of the 20th Century. DEA is assisting the Federal Transit Administration by monitoring the progress of projects, budgets, and compliance of completed work with approved project management plans.

The South Ferry Street Terminal Project will correct existing physical and operating deficiencies which limit train capacity and reduce subway reliability for millions of customers each year. The new station will reduce customer travel times, provide additional station entrances with ADA accessibility, and offer a new free transfer between the subway lines at South Ferry and the lines at Whitehall Street.
