Locomotive Shop Design, Coast Engine & Equip. Corp.
Coast Engine and Equipment Corporation (CEECO) is the largest modern locomotive and rail car repair facility in the Pacific Northwest. DEA provided design services for CEECO’s locomotive shop and rail car repair facilities to provide capacity for an additional 30 rail cars with six bays for locomotive repairs in the shop.
DEA reconfigured the site layout so that the new facilities occupied only 70 percent of the area set aside for the project, allowing CEECO to use the remaining property for future expansion.
Specific design services provided by DEA included rail, site, civil, and geotechnical engineering and construction surveying. Improvements included 7,000 feet of new track, sanitary sewer and water service, storm drainage, yard lighting, grading, and paving.
