Fairhaven Village Green
In 1994, the city of Bellingham, Wash., used Greenway funds to purchase a small property in the historic Fairhaven neighborhood. The city's vision was to create a community gathering place; however, the city was relying on the development of the park to be a citizen initiative.
In June 2001, the Fairhaven Village Green Committee was formed to create the park, and the community raised the funds needed to move forward with the plan. Several local business, including DEA, donated services, and the effort resulted in a warm, welcoming park that captured the historic flavor of the area and provided space for traveling art exhibits, local gatherings and performances. DEA provided pro-bono civil engineering and survey services for the completion of the project.
