How you can stay informed / involved
Continuation of Previous Public Involvement Efforts
In order to create the Witch Hazel Village Community Plan, a significant public involvement effort was undertaken to ensure meaningful public input was sought. These efforts date back to 1997 when Metro identified the area for inclusion into the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB).
As part of the development of the community plan, the City of Hillsboro undertook a significant public involvement process. This process included 15-member citizen’s advisory committee (Task Force) and a 21-member technical advisory committee (TAC). The development of this phase of the Community Plan lasted approximately 18 months, with numerous meetings, 3 open houses and various stakeholder interviews.
Project Open Houses – Open Houses are held at key junctures throughout the project to inform the public about the progress being made and to give meeting participants an opportunity to provide feedback.
The first project Open House was held on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at the Witch Hazel Elementary School in Hillsboro. At that time, the alignment alternatives were made available for public review and comment.
The second open house is on Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at Witch Hazel Elementary School in Hillsboro. The completed design drawings and construction schedule will be presented, and the public will have the opportunity to meet the contractor. View the flyer (PDF)
Flyers – Open House announcements have been sent to a mailing list of over 1,700 people (including all addresses within 500 feet of the project). To be added to the mailing list, please use the contact information below.
On-Site Property Meetings – At the request of adjacent property owners or neighborhoods, the project management team schedules meetings on-site to address their concerns or questions.
