How can you be Involved?

Washington County is committed to providing ways for the public to be involved in the decision making process. Here are some ways to stay informed/ involved in the 170th/173rd project:

Written Comments

Washington County welcomes your written questions and comments. You can e-mail one of the staff listed at the bottom of this page or you can download the comment form and either mail or fax it. The following are a summaries of the comments that have been received from the community:

*References to Options 3, 4, 5, & 6 are from the NAC / BSD sponsored meeting on October 21, 2003. The PAC did not formally develop their alternatives until their February 5, 2004 meeting. Please see their Alternative Alignments for more details regarding the official alternatives.

Open Houses

Open Houses will be held at key junctures throughout the project to inform the public about the progress being made and to give meeting participants an opportunity to provide feedback.

Open House #2

The second project Open House occurred on the evening of May 12, 2004. This event was a time for the public to be updated on the efforts of the PAC and PMT over the past several months including a history of the Project Advisory Committee’s (PAC) progress, the alternatives that have been considered and the alternatives that will be carried forward for further analysis.

The input from the community during this event will help the Project Advisory Committee make their recommendation to the PMT with respect to the location of this roadway and the configuration of the improvements.

The PAC made their recommendation to the PMT during their June 3, 2004 meeting.

Open House #1

The first project Open House was held on Monday June 2, 2003 at Elmonica School. This was an opportunity for the public to learn about the proposed improvements and to provide comments and concerns early on in the beginning phases of this project. The Project Management Team also solicited the public for applicants to participate on the Project Advisory Committee.

At least two additional open houses are planned as the project progresses. One will be to present and discuss alignment and access options, and another will be to present the selected alternative.

Watch this web site for details about the meeting dates and locations, or contact the Project Coordinator listed at the bottom of this page.

Project Advisory Committee

A Project Advisory Committee (PAC) has been formed to provide recommendations to the Project Management Team. The PAC is made up of representatives from the neighborhood, property owners, public agency staff and public interest groups. A list of the members appointed by Commissioner Leeper is included under the Project Advisory Committee link. These people will be representing the community during the project. As the development occur, there will be additional open houses, project newsletters and updates to this web site.

Community Groups

The team will work with the Five Oaks / Triple Creek Neighborhood Association , the Sunset West / Rock Creek / Bethany Citizen Participation Organization (CPO 7), the City of Beaverton, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, neighborhood associations, and the Beaverton School District. The Project Management Team may make presentations, from time to time, at the regularly scheduled meetings of any of these groups, as well as providing updates to them for use in their newsletters and mailers. The Project Management Team is also willing to meet with homeowners associations or other groups to discuss the project.
