Project Identification
This project has been identified on several occasions including the 1983 Sunset West Community Plan, the Washington County Transportation Plan updates in 1993, 2002, and the City of Beaverton's Transportation System Plan.
Project Givens
- Project funding-available through the 1995 voter-approved Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program 3 (~$8.1 million)
- Project limits- Walker to Baseline
- Roadway classification: 170th Ave.: Arterial / 173rd Ave.: Neighborhood Route
- Only one roadway connection utilizing the 170th and 173rd Avenue corridor will be selected
- Improvements will includes bike lanes, sidewalks, two travel lanes and one center turn lane as well as street trees and illumination.
- Box culvert over Willow Creek tributary
- Design speed will be 35-mph.
- Several Preliminary & Final Alternatives, including those identified as #1 and #2 from the 2020 County Transportation Plan update, will be considered
- A Project Advisory Committee (PAC) has been appointed by Commissioner Leeper.
Opportunities for Community Involvement
You can become involved in the project by:
- Providing identification of issues and areas of concern
- Suggesting project evaluation criteria
- Suggesting potential landscape and natural resource enhancement and mitigation
- Participating on the Project Advisory Committee which includes providing a recommendation to the Project Management Team of a preferred alignment. The Project Advisory Committee (PAC) has already been selected, however, the PAC meetings are open to the public and the public is invited to attend.
- Attending open houses and neighborhood meetings, reading project flyers and the project web site, or submitting your thoughts or ideas via the comment forms or e-mail to the Project Management Team.
Project Schedule:
- Project Development / Preliminary Engineering: Spring 2003 to Summer 2004
- Final Engineering / Right-of-Way Acquisition Summer 2004 to Summer 2007
- Construction: May 2008 to December 2009
